The last conference of my 3-week tour was on 4th-6th September in Olomouc, Czech Republic. Since I now work in Czech Republic, it’s nice to meet also other ecologists working here. The conference was almost all in English, only one of the five sessions was in Czech. I was also one of the five keynote speakers. Each one of us also chaired one session. The venue was at the Faculty of Science of Palacky University in Olomouc. All the participants fit well in the big auditorium.
There was only one plenary talk, and that was by Catherine Graham. I had heard that talk already one week before at EOU 2019, but it was no problem listening again this excellent talk of hummingbirds.
My talk was about our experiments in Papua New Guinea. I told about all the results we have managed analyse so far. We still have a lot data to be analysed and samples to be identified.
There were a lot talks about all kinds of ecological research. Quite much about plants and arthropods, but very few of birds.
The old town of Olomouc was very pretty. I walked 1.5 hours there one evening and took some photos.
The conference was very nice small one. I was glad to meet lots of new people, and surprisingly also some people I’ve already met elsewhere before.
